Spring Cleaning Time

I am a neat freak when it comes to certain areas in our home. Adam makes fun of me when even just my parents are coming over and I'm fluffing pillows on the sofa and straightening things up to what I feel is just the 'right' way! However, when it comes to the 'hardly ever seen by guests' areas of the house I'm not so tidy. Our bedroom closet is a wreck..Adam's so called 'boy' room had a tornado go through it along with the many 'junk' drawers and storage spaces here and there! Spring is here basically..I've been opening all the windows to soak in the fresh air while I clean and because of this it's time to organize, declutter, and straighten up each and every tiny space in our home! I am bound and determined to completely organize my life and everything in it by the end of the summer :) hopefully I will be done much sooner but that's the goal! It's a much larger task than most would think considering Adam lived here long before I came along so there are years of manly clutter in these drawers and closets! I will tackle them without fear however! I will keep you posted on how the organizing is coming along!

Now, I'm off to work on another small project I'm doing. Nightstands that is! Adam got a new bedroom set..once again before I was around and since he is a boy he thought he needed a bed and dresser and well..that's all! We have nightstands now thanks to me :) however they were cheap and ugly (only because I saw the true beauty underneath..haha)! I, however, with my magic charm are going to transform them into something beautiful! I will post before and after pictures after I'm finished remodeling the bedroom as well :)

Blessed Birthday & Easter

Today is my 21st birthday! Last night my wonderful fiancee organized an amazing get together with great friends and close family at a delicious restaraunt! It was a surprise to me and I was overly joyful! After hanging with friends at our home afterwards Adam and I headed to bed. I was only lying there for about 2 minutes when I heard Adam start snoring ;) I rolled over and all I could do was stare at him and think first of all that I can't believe I have been alive for 21 years..21 years seems like an enternity and yesterday it seems as if I was only 5! Secondly, I thought about how loved I am by great people..I am surrounded by them day after day and without these wonderful people I'm not sure where I would be today. Thirdly, I thought about how truly blessed I am to have been given Adam. I know God meant us for eachother. This morning Adam & I got up and went to a Sunrise Service at my church..had breakfast there..then attended the regular church service afterwards. It was a blessed time..and throughout my Easter Sunday/Birthday I thought about those same 3 simple things. The Lord has blessed my life with so many spectacular things that I gratefully thank Him for each day. Overall, I had a wonderful and fully BLESSED birthday and Easter :)

An uplifting letter & Some added touches

Today, once again since I was out of school I worked all day. My school family gave me a very sweet birthday card and the children sang Happy 'early' Birthday to me! It was touching. However, it wasn't that sweet thing that turned my 'wanting to be home in bed on my day off school' mood into a 'touched & happy' mood :) A particular girl in my class colored a picture for me during coloring time and then attached this precious letter to the top of the picture:

Secondly, I added a few tiny touches to my cabinet even though it is still kind of bare it is coming along..Also, I somewhat decided a negative on putting the doors back on with the fabric cause it's cute the way it is right now I might change it later who knows!

p.s. those cords have got to go :) ugh!

Unable to deal & an amazing deal

Ok so basically I am 99.9% of the time on top of things..I am on Easter Break therefore I worked all day long..instead of focusing on my 24 1st & 2nd graders I kept thinking about the fact that I hadn't posted the pictures..I just couldn't deal with it! So..I got home from work..at dinner with my darling Adam and started snapping photos to upload! Plus I had other good news to share :)

Here it goes..Ok so this is the kitchen cart we got that matched the cabinet it had the same design on it and TRUST I am painting it soon too:

Yes..hideous I know! Therefore I sanded, primed, and painted the cabinet (as I mentioned earlier..forgot the before pic but you get the idea from the kitchen cart) yuck! Here is the cabinet after:

It definitely does not look as adorable in the pictures but it is..It has doors that go on the front that I have yet to finish! I need to buy new knobs..and I also bought fabric that I plan to cover the inside of the doors! It looks like this:

It is coming along..and way better than those horrible apples with brown leaves or whatever it was!!

I mentioned earlier I had more good news to share so here it goes: On my break today I thought I would take a trip to the local thrift shop in search of some goodies. I have been looking for a cake topper for awhile and refused to pay a lot for one considering my mom probably has some that she actually uses for cakes that if it came down to it..I could just take one! I stopped in to the thrift store though and found a mini one - the brown knob on top has got to go but I will paint it creme or off white and it will match the antique looking plate I found to go with it that is also that off white color. It needs a touch up paint job as well..but I can definitely handle that considering it cost me 50 cents for BOTH items!

Such a good buy! I told you I was going to start being thrifty with my decor and I did it! 50 cents is BEYOND thifty! Being honest though..I also stopped in to my one of my favorite stores in this wonderful town strictly looking for some moss that I figured they would just give me! Well indeed..they gave me a bag of decorative moss for free but..I bought..other..things too :( I left out the picture of those goodies cause you would be ashamed I threw the previous thriftiness right out the window! I'm trying though..(I needed those things though cause I was down about the house situation ;) hehe

Slacker :) Stressed :(

I had fully intended to take pictures of this other piece of furniture that matches the hideous one I re-did on Monday..or Tuesday however, I've slacked a little and have neither posted those pictures nor finished the other project completely to even be able to take and post pictures of it! I know it's horrible :) However, I guess I need to work a little harder!

Secondly, I'm overly stressed about buying a house! Actually, it's not even the ''buying'' part I'm stressed about..it's finding one! Adam and I have been on a frantic search for a new home for the past few months or so..not because it's 100% necessary we move but because we are sick of paying rent for something thats not 'ours'! We found a beautiful home on about Wednesday and called the realtor to see about checking it out right away..her reply was "I'm so sorry, someone just closed on that particular house..TODAY!" I almost cried..however I held myself together and with some baby-ing from Adam realized..it's ok we will find something else! Yesterday..Came across an even more beautiful home and by the looks of it i felt like I knew it was for us - well I just left the realtors office and her reply was "That house was sold over a year ago, some other realtors do not update their websites!" You have got to be kidding me? In fact, after that comment I'm just speechless!

I want to move
I'm stressed out
I've turned into a slacker..not good
However...
I'm ready for Easter & my birthday :)

It is going to be a long day..I can tell

Blogging,Spraypainting, & Decorating Frenzy

I am completely new to this whole blogging scene. It's amazing to me that it is basically a diary with the exception of not being private! Anyways, because of my discovery to other amazing blogs I have taken up a few challenges of my own.

1. Starting a blog of my own..let me tell you once I get the hang of this biz it is going to be fan-tab-u-lous!
2. Spraypainting everything in my home that I currently can't stand the color of..well technically not everything just a few here and there furniture pieces. * I embarked on the first major adventure of this category this morning with this absolutely beyond hideous little shelf..cabinet..thing! It had apples and junk painted on the front but hey, it was beyond cheap and I knew it had potential! Due to the fact that I'm a new blogger however I made the mistake of forgetting the whole before picture..but you can picture in your mind I am sure..just plain hideous and with that picture lingering..I will soon show the after picture!
3. Last but not least..I'm an avid decorator and love anything and everything related to it! However, I have never been the thriftiest person about it..if I shop see something for $50 that I don't think I can live without..I buy it! Well because of the generous advice from other blogs..that is slowly but surely going to come to a STOP! Along the way I will eventually show you..and prove that I am getting better!
